Glen Powell to portray Oregon footballer in Hulu series inspired by Eli Manning
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One of the internet’s favorite leading men will portray a University of Oregon football player in a new Hulu show.
On Wednesday, celebrity news site TMZ uncovered photos of Glen Powell donning the white, green and yellow Ducks uniform for the upcoming series “Chad Powers.”
Back in February, entertainment magazine Variety reported that Powell would star in the sports comedy. The actor also works as an executive producer and co-wrote the pilot episode.
The show is named after a character created by retired NFL quarterback Eli Manning. In his ESPN+ docuseries “Eli’s Places,” the two-time Super Bowl champion went undercover as a walk-on for football tryouts at Pennsylvania State University.
Powell, most recently known for his acting in “Twisters” and “Top Gun: Maverick”, will reprise the role — and sport a mullet — in the new series.
“When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s (Powell) college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers,” the series description said, according to Variety.
Manning and his brother Peyton will also serve as executive producers.
