Report: Spurs earn more in food sales than Everton’s total matchday income
An article in TBR Football has taken a closer look at the financial disparity between Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, pointing out that the North London club earn more in just food and drinks sales than the Toffees’ total matchday revenue.
Tottenham and Everton were on the same level
The report points out that the two clubs were neck to neck in terms of total revenue until a decade ago, with Spurs making £141m and Everton £121m.
However, moving into the new stadium has been a game changer for Tottenham, who reportedly turned over a total of £550m during the last financial year compared to Everton’s measly £172m.
The progress Spurs have made in the last 10 years can be summed up by a simple pint and a pie.
Spurs earn more on food and drink alone
In fact, it is explained that the Lilywhites make £800,000 per game from food and drink sales alone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which brings their earnings over 19 Premier League home games to £15.2m.
That is not including the fact that Spurs also have Europa League home matches to host and generally look to go further in the domestic cups than Everton.
In stark contrast, the Merseyside club only earned a total of £17m from their entire matchday operation during their last financial year.
Spurs Web Opinion
While Tottenham’s revenue is high, it is important to remember that the Lilywhites have posted significant losses over the last three years, which is very consequential for a self-sustaining club, which is not reliant on owner investment.
This disparity between Everton and us shows why the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was much needed and a timely move, which has helped secure our future, irrespective of who our next owner is going to be.
