Buffalo man accused of sexual assault indicted for separate burglary

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Buffalo man under prosecution for an alleged sexual assault has been indicted for a separate burglary, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.

Lamont K. Love, 34, is accused of breaking into a residence in the early hours of Feb. 23, officials said. The victim allegedly awoke to a loud noise in their apartment's kitchen and called police, finding a window screen and kitchen countertop damaged.

Responding officers allegedly found a pair of abandoned shoes and a cell phone, which were placed into evidence, officials said.

Love was charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief in connection with the incident.

For the sexual assault case, Love was arraigned in June on one count of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of third-degree assault.

Officials said around 10:30 p.m. on March 3, Love was riding a bicycle and approached the victim while she was walking in Shoshone Park on the 1900 block of Hertel Avenue. He allegedly jumped off of his bicycle and attacked the victim.

Love is accused of subjecting the victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion, officials said.

Love is scheduled to return to court on both files on Sept. 27. He was held without bail in the burglary case.
