Lidl Cyprus supports new parents among staff with further benefits

0

As of July 1, 2024, Lidl Cyprus has been offering additional benefits to those of its team who are new parents. Taking action in response to the island’s persistent high level of falling birth rates, and with an aim to support families with the arrival of their newest members, Lidl Cyprus has created a benefits package that offers more time and support for mums and dads, as well as significant financial aid.

More specifically, the company offers all potential new parents:

  • Additional maternity leave: four additional weeks of paid maternity leave
  • Additional paternity leave: one additional week of paid paternity leave

At the same time, Lidl also provides the following financial support:

  • Covering the remaining rate of leave allowance. Lidl Cyprus covers the remaining percentage of maternity leave allowance for fathers as well, thus supplementing the percentage paid by social security. In this way, it ensures new parents receive 100 per cent of their leave allowance.
  • Coverage of additional days of maternity and paternity leave, at 100 per cent of the current nominal salary.

The above are added to existing benefits, thereby improving conditions for young couples, young women and new families, significantly. In this way, Lidl Cyprus sets new standards of care and substantial support of its people.

Humans and respect for its personnel and family time are a priority, and one of the top principles of the company. From 2022, with the aim of further supporting new mothers in their return to work, Lidl Cyprus created the first Breastfeeding Room at its headquarters. A room from #teamLidl to support every new mum in her new role, to allow her to get the best possible start back to work.

These new benefits seal the company’s promise of an inclusive environment for new parents, and show the way to support the institution of the family.
