0

Cyprus’ High Commission in London on Thursday announced it is looking to hire a new head of accounts.

The successful applicant will be paid £75,400 (€89,417) per year and will spend around 20 per cent of their time in Brussels, given the diverse nature of the role.

In return for that remuneration, the successful applicant will be responsible for “the orderly operation and smooth processing of the high commission’s accounting office”, while also controlling invoices and payment orders made by the high commission itself, and those made by the high commission on the behalf of other government departments.

In addition, the successful applicant will control invoices and payment orders related to the Republic of Moldova’s permanent representation to the European Union in Brussels.

They will also be expected to “contribute to the best possible management of public money and government property in relation to the planning and control of the purchase of goods and services to meet the various needs” of both Cyprus’ high commission in London and Moldova’s permanent representation to the EU.

Applicants must be members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), while also possessing a very good knowledge of Greek and English. A good knowledge of French will also be considered an advantage.

They are also expected to have had five years of work experience in the field, and to have a “very good knowledge of computers and the internet”.

They must also be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who hold the right to live and work in the United Kingdom.

Interested parties are requested to submit a curriculum vitae and a cover letter, as well as proof of their membership of the ICAEW or the ACCA and of their language proficiency, and two letters of recommendation by email to cyprusinuk@mfa.gov.cy to the attention of Diamanto Kyriakou by October 3.
