09/05/2024: In the Wedge of Perfection
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:
Almost identical weather is expected today compared to Wednesday across the News10 viewing area - lots of sun and comfortable temperatures. A few more clouds will be present in our skies Friday - but its an otherwise repeat performance before a chance for rain Saturday.
Sunny and warm today with highs in the 70s to near 80. Forgive me if I use the phrase "copy-paste" at any point in this article. Another phenomenal weather day ahead!
A light south-southeast wind keeps temperatures a bit milder overnight. Most stay in the 50s this time around - around right where we should be a week into September.
An area of low-pressure offshore will deposit a few more clouds into our skies - especially to the southeast of Albany - otherwise, it's essentially the same forecast with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
A cold front approaching from the west will bring from west to east a few hours of showers and isolated t-storms to the region late Saturday afternoon into the early evening. That will keep temperatures a bit lower. It's also our only widespread rain chance this week - and the day is still far from a washout.
A very cold pocket of air - something more common in mid-Autumn - will be centered to our north Sunday. At the surface, winds off the Great Lakes will produce more clouds and even a few rain showers north of Albany. More notably, however, is the fact that temperatures are most likely stuck in the 60s all day long, coupled with a gusty breeze reinforcing the cooler air.
The shot of cooler air is brief though. By Monday, more areas reach the 70s. I won't totally rule out a stray shower or two - but the risk looks to be very low. High pressure builds in again for Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather those days should feel very familiar to us by now - a ton of sunshine with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
