I tried to make a cast of my newborn’s tiny hand & it had me in hysterics – people say it’s the best possible outcome
ALL parents will tell you that the newborn phase goes far too quickly.
And one mum decided she wanted to remember it forever with an adorable keepsake – casting her baby’s hand to remember how tiny they were.
Madison wanted a keepsake of her newborn’s hand – but it didn’t go quite to plan[/caption]But she was left in hysterics when she took the cast out and realised what had happened.
Madison Hafen took to social media to share the special moment – but it didn’t go quite to plan.
She said: “Tried to make a precious little cast of my newborn’s hand and this is what I get.”
The mum filmed herself opening up the cast and as she did her face fell into shock.
In hysterics, she kept digging the cast out only to find her newborn son had flipped her off while doing the mould.
Clearly unimpressed with being his mum’s art muse – he showed her what he thought of the whole thing.
Madison couldn’t control her laughter as she showed up the teeny tiny hand with it’s middle finger up.
With her friend in the background the pair cackled as her friend exclaimed: “you can’t make this s**t up.”
“He really showed me how he feels about my crafts,” Madison said.
The hilarious moment was a major hit online and something Madison will not ever forget.
The clip posted to her TikTok account @madisonhafen went viral with over 29 million views and 5.7 million likes.
People were quick to take to the comments in hysterics and claiming it was the best keepsake they’ve seen.
One person wrote: “Now THAT is a family heirloom.”
Another commented: “The best possible outcome.”
Keepsakes for newborns
Creating keepsakes with newborns can be a wonderful way for parents to cherish and remember those early moments. Here are five keepsake ideas:
- Handprint and Footprint Art: Clay Imprints: Use soft, air-dry clay to create imprints of the baby’s hands and feet.
- Baby Memory Book: Document milestones, firsts (first smile, first word), and significant events. Include photos, notes, and small mementos like hospital bracelets or a lock of hair from their first haircut.
- Personalized Jewelry: Create custom jewelry like necklaces or bracelets with the baby’s name, birthdate, or birthstone. Some parents also incorporate tiny imprints of their baby’s fingerprints into pendants or charms.
- Photo Album or Digital Photobook: Compile a collection of photos from pregnancy, birth, and the baby’s first year. Digital photobooks can be created online and printed, often with options to add captions and notes.
- Growth and Milestone Blanket: A blanket with a customisable design to mark the baby’s growth and milestones. Parents can take monthly photos of the baby on the blanket to track their growth and changes over time.
“Agree it’s honestly iconic,” said Madison.
“This would become my most prized possession I fear,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Fabulous, make 10 more.”
“I would cherish this forever! What an icon,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “This is PERFECT.”
