I’m 25 & people think I’m crazy for moving from London to Barbados with my baby – but we’re saving thousands on rent

WE ALL dream of escaping the gloomy British weather for a more tropical landscape.

But one mum has revealed she’s finally doing it and packing her family up to live in sunny Barbados.

Georgia Barry, who lives in London is in the process of moving to Barbados with her one-year-old and partner.

She revealed she never planned to get pregnant at the age of 24, but loved being a mum and wanted to experience family life in the best way possible – and that wasn’t in London.

Taking to social media, she revealed: “A lot of people think that we’re crazy for packing up our lives and moving from London to Barbados with our one-year-old.”

“London was great when we were out drinking, socialising, meeting lots of people. I feel like there’s a big pub culture in London.

“Uh, when you’re not living that lifestyle anymore, it can be a bit isolating.”

Georgia revealed she would much rather spend the evening with her partner, Charlie and their tot walking along a sunny beach.

Not only that, but the mum revealed Barbados was much cheaper than trying to rent in London.

“Our biggest expense in London is our rent,” she explained.

And fortunately, Charlie’s grandparents had a cottage in Barbados they could live in rent free.

She was also a fan of the friendly culture and close-knit community in the country, something you rarely find in a Metropolitan city like London.

Finishing up, she revealed she was currently having to wear a jumper in the middle of August in the UK, reason enough to want to leave.

The clip posted to her TikTok account @georgia.barry quickly went viral with over 213k views and 6,900 likes.

People were quick to take to the comments and share their thoughts on the families move.

One person wrote: “Very similar reasons for why I moved from London to Spain! Having my first baby in October and definitely feel like it’s the right choice.”

Another commented: “You never know till you try in life you could always return if it doesn’t work out.”

“What an amazing opportunity to give to your daughter,” penned a third.

Moving to Barbados fro the UK

Barbados is a popular holiday destination but moving there permanently can be trickier.

You can live in Barbados with a British passport and can stay for six months without a vis.

But to stay longer and make a permanent move you’ll have to apply for a visa.

These can include; Barbados Welcome Stamp, an immigrant visa, a work permit, or a Special Entry Permit for retirees.

To move there you’ll also have to get private health care insurance as there is no national health service available in the country.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Amazing babe, good luck with your move.”

“As if this is a question, get me and my baby to the suuuuunnnnn,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “I’d never say you were crazy. I’d do it tomorrow if I was able.”
