Sports briefs: San Marin takes down Alhambra in four sets
Gabi Ginocchio and Brianna Nottingham put together strong games to help the San Marin High girls volleyball team defeat Alhambra 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-12 on Wednesday night.
Nottingham paced the Mustangs (5-1) with 11 kills and added nine digs and two aces. Ginocchio had team highs of 19 assists and six aces.
Kylie Zizic added five aces and Alison Hoburg had five kills and two blocks.
- Natalie Stanford came up with two big swings at the end of the game to help Tam close out Sacred Heart Cathedral in four — 16-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-23. Stanford had 11 kills, three digs and two blocks for the Red-tailed Hawks (5-0). Natalia Clifford had a team-high 17 kills and added five digs. Emmeline Sandgren had 31 assists and three aces. Jade Curtin-Savala added 10 digs and three aces.
- Mia Patino had 20 digs and Josie Campo had a double-double as Terra Linda swept past Rancho Cotate, 25-19, 25-23, 25-18 on Wednesday. Campo had 13 kills, 10 digs, and two aces for TL (9-1), which also got 10 kills and two blocks from Kylie Chen.
- Elsa Kehoe had 13 kills and Olivia Dugan had 12 digs as San Rafael posted a 25-16, 25-18, 25-15 road win against Livermore on Wednesday. Abby Sims had 22 assists, two kills, and three blocks. Audrey Merk posted nine kills and Giselle Grul had five blocks and two kills for the Bulldogs (10-5).
