Schenectady Downtown Ambassadors named holiday parade grand marshal
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The grand marshal for the 2024 holiday parade in Schenectady has been chosen. The county legislature named Schenectady Downtown Ambassadors as grand marshal in recognition of the program's 15th anniversary.
Ambassadors welcome people to the city, help them cross the street, find parking, and offer restaurant recommendations. The ambassadors found out during a ceremony last week.
The program's director said the recognition means a lot to them.
"So, to have our county and governmental leaders and the business leaders, not only do we see what you're doing, not only do we believe in it, but we want to recognize it and celebrate it," Schenectady City Mission Exec. Dir. Mike Saccocio said. "You can't have something more affirming than that."
The parade takes place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 in downtown Schenectady.
