How to watch the 49ers vs. Jets on Monday Night Football even if there’s a blackout on DirecTV
The San Francisco 49ers are kicking off the 2024-25 season at home at 5:15 p.m. PDT on Sept. 9 at Levi’s Stadium against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
The 49ers have their stars ready to go after Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams both signed new extensions in recent days, ending their contract disputes. One 49ers player who will not be available is 2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall, who was shot in an attempted robbery last weekend and is recovering.
Brock Purdy will seek to begin his third NFL season with a home win over the Jets and Northern California native Aaron Rodgers, who is back at age 40 after tearing his Achilles in New York’s opening game last season.
How to watch
The game will air nationally on the ABC network. In the Bay Area, you can tune in to KGO-TV (channel 7) with an antenna or a cable TV provider. DirecTV is currently in a contract dispute with Disney, which means that subscribers may not be able to watch the matchup on ABC or sports channels ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes. But there are a number of other live TV service providers that carry the networks:

Sling TV offers ESPN in its Sling Orange plan and ABC in its Sling Blue plan. It typically costs $40 per month for Orange or $45 per month for Blue. Right now, you can get a discount of $25 off the first month for either plan.
YouTube TV gives you access to both ABC and ESPN. It costs $72.99 per month, but it is currently on sale for $64.99 per month for the first four months.
Monday night’s 49ers-Jets showdown marks the first time since 2020 that the 49ers are starting the season at home.
