I’m a council house mum & don’t work – trolls call me a ‘lazy universal credit dosser’ but help’s there for a reason
A MUM who lives in a council house and doesn’t work has hit back at mean trolls who called her a “lazy universal credit dosser”.
Sophie Nicole said that whilst she doesn’t believe that she has to explain herself to anyone, she has done so to help people like her that are “struggling and suffering.”
Taking to TikTok, the mum replied to a comment from a cruel troll who said: “Everyday is a bank holiday for the lazy, Universal Credit dossers like you.”
Hitting back at this, Sophie explained that the reason she is on Universal Credit is because she “fell on hard times”, and lost her job due to a medical condition.
“I wish I didn’t have it but unfortunately I do and it’s ruined my life”, she said of the unnamed condition.
Despite her struggles, Sophie said that she is trying to stay positive, and is grateful every day just to “live, laugh love.”
The mum added that if it wasn’t for school food vouchers she would have had to have visited a food bank to be able to feed her children.
“Things like that are in place for people that struggle”, she said.
Sophie assured that she is not someone who has abused the benefits system, and is just doing the best she can to provide for herself and her family.
She said that people beat themselves up all the time for not being able to afford things for their children, and added that she understands how hard this is for people to cope with.
Sophie is also hoping to one day make money off TikTok, and said that she will be “laughing”, when she gets paid to reply to mean comments from trolls.
Her video, posted under the username @sophie_nicole27, has likely resonated with many people, as it has gone viral, racking up over 36,000 views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts and offer their support to Sophie.
One person said: “It’s a very small number of people abusing the system. The majority genuinely need it.”
A second person said: “I work but don’t earn enough so I get help.
“It’s awful that these days you can work and yet not be able to afford to live.”
