Chicago L-Train murder victim wanted to be Columbus police officer

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A man who was gunned down in a Chicago, Ill. area transit-train, had aspirations of becoming an officer with the Columbus Division of Police, according to a report.

Simeon Bihesi, 28, was shot multiple times and was one of four victims who were killed Monday morning on the Blue Line of the L-Train near Forest Park, west of Chicago. Bihesi, Margaret Miller, 64 and Adrian Collins, 60, were all fatally shot while they were sleeping on the train.

Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins said the victims were shot, "execution style". A 52-year-old man in an adjacent train car was also shot and killed, but investigators haven't released his name as of 11 a.m.

Bihesi grew up in Columbus, his father Leonard Nyamuseva told the Chicago Sun Times. Bihesi reportedly joined the marines and served in Washington D.C., before moving to Chicago to receive treatment for an illness.

Nyamuseya said that Bihesi’s latest goal was to return home and join the Columbus Division of Police. Bihesi's social media page lists him as a graduate of Independence High School.

After the shootings, Chicago police arrested 30-year-old Rhanni Davis, who reportedly fled the scene but was captured on video footage from the train. He is charged with four counts of first-degree murder.

The Blue Line runs 24 hours and stretches from Forest Park, eastbound to downtown Chicago and northwest to O’Hare International Airport.
