Circleville city council clerk voted out of office

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) -- Circleville city council voted out its clerk Tuesday night after she was accused of not following policy regarding city documents and for refusing to work with employees.

Ex-clerk Linda Chancey was voted out of her position by city council in a 5-2 vote after serving in the role for 26 years. City council president Barry Keller accused Chancey of refusing to work with other employees and not following policy when handling city documents.

Chancey alleged that she was bullied by her co-workers and she followed city policy as she understood it.

It's been a busy few months for Circleville's city council amidst the police department's mass number of resignations and officials being placed on leave. The former police chief Shawn Baer was put on leave in March and his replacement was shortly thereafter.

In August, a third acting deputy chief was placed on administrative leave for allegedly trying to solicit sex from a citizen while he was in uniform. City council hired a former law enforcement official to come in and conduct an outside review of the police department.
