This is the rudest city in the US, according to a new study
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Where does New York rank on a list of the most rude cities in America? Maybe surprisingly, the Big Apple doesn’t even rank in the top ten, a new study finds.
Miami, Florida came in number one as the most rude city in the country, according to a survey from the language learning app Preply. New York, despite its reputation for being tough, ranked 21st on the list.
Participants in the study said lack of self-awareness, talking on speakerphone in a shared space, being loud in shared spaces, as well as watching movies or listening to music without headphones in a shared space, topped their list for what makes someone rude.
Surveyors spoke to local residents about social behaviors in their city and the results marked a stark change from 2022 when Preply conducted a similar study. At that time New York City came in at number three, while Miami didn’t even make the list.
The top 5 most rude cities were listed as:
- Miami, Florida
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Tampa, Florida
- Louisville, Kentucky
- Oakland, California
On the other hand Omaha, Nebraska, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and San Diego, California were voted as the least rude cities in the U.S.
