Fatal crash in Lanesborough
LANESBOROUGH, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The Lanesborough Police Department announced that there was a fatal crash in Lanesborough on Sunday. The crash involved an SUV and a motorcycle.
The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. when the two collided on the Route 7 and 8 connector near the Berkshire Mall. Julia Sabourin, a spokesperson for the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, confirmed with police that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the Lanesborough Ambulance at 12:39 p.m.
Sabourin also confirmed that the motorcyclist was a Pittsfield man in his 70s, but no further information about him could be released. The SUV driver was not majorly injured and was interviewed by police, but the car was damaged badly in the crash.
The District Attorney's Office is still investigating the crash, according to Sabourin. The Lanesborough Police Department, Lanesborough Ambulance, Lanesborough Fire Department, and the Massachusetts State Police responded to the crash.
