I hate cleaning my garden but have the best hands-free hack for my council house patio – it means I never touch slugs
Gardening isn’t for everyone, especially if you’re not fond of all the creepy crawlies that roam freely in their natural habitat.
And even though a whopping 42 per cent of Brits enjoy gardening, with 35 per cent of them claiming it helps them to relax, there are the others that don’t.
But if you are lucky enough to have a garden, then looking after it will be one of the main priorities on your list.
And Jordanna Banks is one of them.
She took to her TikTok page, named @jordanna.banks, to reveal her fear for the slugs and bugs.
However, she also discovered a savvy gardening hack which helps her when cleaning her patio and many people are praising her for sharing it with them.
Jordanna, who regularly shares videos of her journey turning her ‘council house into a home,’ has revealed her garden hack for cleaning the garden.
She captioned the video: “Garden hack for my girly’s who hate cleaning the garden.”
Jordanna filmed herself demonstrating the hack whilst narrating over the video.
She says: “Anybody that’s like me, that’s not really a garden girly. Hates cleaning the garden and hates bugs as well. This is a little hack for you guys.”
The video, which shows her cleaning her patio, shows her using a usually black bin bag to tidy her garden.
She says: “So you just put the bin bag over your feet and just sweep up the branches inside the bin bag. It’s that simple guys.
“This is the way forward because I’m not touching any slugs and no spiders.”
Jordanna also revealed in the comments section that even with her “gloves on I still don’t want to touch any insects.”
The video gained over 396 likes with many rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One wrote: “Will definitely be using this hack. I literally gag at anything garden related.”
Another added: “Going to have to try this hack”.
A third said: “Dego giving it a go. Hate bugs.”
Whilst a fourth complimented her outdoor space and wrote: “The garden looks really nice, hard work pays off. Well done.”
How can I get a council house?
To apply for a council home, you need to fill out and hand in an application to your local authority.
To find your local authority, simply use the Government’s council locator tool on its website.
Once you have access to your local council’s website, it should offer you guidelines on how to complete your application.
After applying, you’ll most likely have to join a waiting list.
Bear in mind, even if you are put on a waiting list, this doesn’t guarantee you a council house offer.
Your council should also offer you advice on how to stay in your current home and solve any issues you might have, such as problems with a private landlord or mortgage.
You are eligible to apply for council housing if you are a British citizen living in the UK providing have not lived abroad recently.
Each council has its own local rules about who qualifies to go on the housing register in its area, but it is based on “points” or a “banding” system.
For example, you’re likely to be offered housing first if you:
- are homeless
- live in cramped conditions
- have a medical condition made worse by your current home
- are seeking to escape domestic violence
Once you are high enough on a council’s waiting list, it will contact you when a property is available.
Some councils let people apply at the age of 18, while others let you apply even sooner at 16-year-olds.
EU workers and their families and refugees may also be eligible.
A council house is reached through a points system, so depending on your housing needs, you may be considered low priority.
The council will contact you about any available property once you are high enough on the waiting list.
There is no limit on how long you can expect to be on the waiting list.
