A stunt with chairs went wrong when they weren’t secured correctly, sending him down on his coccyx.

Matt was left with a painful herniated disc – and is still continuing to suffer despite regular rehab sessions.

Speaking to The Sun, the ex-gymnast said: “It’s a pain, it’s really challenging to get back and get fully fit again.

“I’m still like really… yeah it’s really tough.

“I’m just trying to do rehab all the time and stretch and do strength training exercises and that.”

Matt returned to television this week with a brand new series of Travels With Mum and Dad for More4.

Meanwhile, the 46-year-old recently hinted at a return to The One Show – four years after quitting.

He candidly told The Sun how you “never leave the family” following Jermaine Jenas’ shock sacking.

The dad-of-two said: “All of the shows that I’ve worked on over the years, even like Blue Peter especially, you leave the show but you don’t leave the family.

“I think that’s an important thing to remember and look, if they needed me then I’m more than happy to have a chat with them and see how I can be helpful.

“Who knows, who knows at the moment, I’ve not had any conversations with anybody, but like I say, it’s a show that I still absolutely love.

“I spent nine years of my life dedicated to it and it’s a show that’s very close to my heart.”

He concluded: “It’s a family and you never leave the family.”
