Delhi: President delegates LG power to constitute any authority or statutory body, appoint members to boards

President Droupadi Murmu has delegated powers to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to appoint members to various authorities, boards, and commissions in Delhi. This move, announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, could lead to tensions with the Aam Aadmi Party government. Additionally, the President has sanctioned the constitution of the 23rd Law Commission of India, which will function from September 2024 to August 2027 and focus on legal reforms.
