APD identifies man killed in deadly north I-35 crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department identified on Tuesday a 42-year-old man who died in a two-vehicle crash on North Interstate 35 that happened last week.

On Aug. 29, around 11:09 p.m., officers responded to the crash in the 1500 block of northbound North I-35, officials said in the release.

The driver of one of those vehicles, Sherman Johnson, was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

APD said this is now being investigated as Austin's 59th fatal crash of 2024. The crash remained under investigation as of Tuesday.
