Soldier drowns at Milford Lake: sheriff

GEARY COUNTY (KSNT) - Law enforcement is identifying the person who drowned at Milford Lake over the weekend.

The Geary County Sheriff's Office announced on social media the victim of the drowning is Ismael Ouedraogo, 29. He was a private with the 5/15 CEC-A.

Witnesses of the drowning say Oudraogo was swimming near some buoys at the swim beach at the state park when he went under the water and didn't resurface. Bystanders recovered him 10 minutes later and tried to revive him but were unsuccessful.

The Geary County Sheriff's Office and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks investigated the drowning. 27 News is working to gather more information on this incident.
