Drunk driver crashes into police vehicle while troopers arrest another drunk driver
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- An alleged drunk driver crashed into a New York State Police vehicle early Monday morning in Lockport while troopers were arresting another alleged drunk driver, police announced.
Troopers identified a stopped vehicle facing south in the northbound lane around 1:18 a.m. on South Transit Road with its alleged driver, 34-year-old Richard L. Morrow of Lockport, slumped over the steering wheel, according to police.
Morrow allegedly attempted and failed some field sobriety tests and troopers identified the smell of alcohol from his Dodge Charger. He was placed under arrest in the back of a marked police vehicle and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
As troopers finished the investigation into Morrow, a Kia allegedly driven by 25-year-old Elizabeth M. Pursey of Buffalo, struck a police vehicle on the scene, according to police. Pursey was also taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as multiple traffic infractions.
Morrow was transported to Lockport Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, police said, and was released on appearance tickets for a later date. Police did not provide an update on Pursey's legal proceedings.
