Britain’s Got Talent star joins hit BBC series – a decade after wowing judges on ITV show
BRITAIN’S Got Talent star La Voix is jumping back into the spotlight as the drag performer is set to appear on the upcoming series of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The beloved competition show is about to embark on its sixth season on BBC Three.
La Voix is one of this season’s hopeful drag performers.
She is best known for performing as a solo artist on series 7 of Britain’s Got Talent.
Her performance was never televised, but she wowed the judges enough to make it through the first round of the U.K. competition show.
In a promo for the series, La Voix was seen in the Deliberations, which meant she just fell short of reaching the Semi-Finals.
Prior to that, in 2007, La Voix competed on the show as a member of The Kit Kat Dolls.
Despite not going the distance on Britain’s Got Talent, La Voix has gone on to have an impressive career.
“I’ve worked on 80 cruise ships (yes 80!) and I’ve toured all over the world with my one woman show… and now I’m here on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK!” she said in a BBC press release.
She continued: “I am a seasoned diva and I cannot wait to get going!
“I’m so excited. When they rang me and told me the news, I couldn’t believe it! Shocked isn’t even the word. I had to clear my diary – I’m very busy, you see.”
Speaking about why she wanted to head back onto a reality competition show, La Voix said she was excited about the prospect of a new challenge.
“I wanted to do Drag Race because drag has changed so much since I first started drag back in prehistoric times, twenty years ago. I thought Drag Race UK would be an amazing second chapter of my career and a personal challenge to immerse myself in the new world of drag. Also, I just love RuPaul!” she explained.
La Voix, who has worked with the likes of Cilla Black, Joanna Lumley, Jennifer Saunders, Rylan, and Ant and Dec throughout her career, hopes Drag Race opens more doors for her in the future, too.
“I’d love to work with RuPaul, Adele and Madonna next – I’m hoping that this competition gives me the chance to!” she explained.
La Voix is one of 12 hopeful drag queens who will compete across ten weeks in a variety of spicy challenges and iconic games designed to test their drag mettle.

2007: Paul Potts – The first ever winner of BGT was opera singer Paul Potts. He saw off competition from Connie Talbot, The Bar Wizards, Bessie Cursors, Damon Scott and Kombat Breakers to win.

2009: Diversity – Dance troupe Diversity scooped the BGT crown and beat of competition from singer Susan Boyle, who was strongly tipped to win the show.
2010 – Spellbound: Gymnastic troupe Spellbound really impressed judge Simon Cowell with their stunning routines and incredible stunts in 2010. At the time, the music mogul said: “I can only say on live television that was one of the most astonishing things I have ever seen.”
2011 – Jai McDowall: Viewers were stunned when Jai McDowall won the show in 2011, as young singer Ronan Parke was the favourite to win the series.
2012 – Ashleigh and Pudsy: Ashleigh Butler and her adorable pooch Pudsey stole hearts when they performed in series six of the talent show.
2013 – Attraction: Hungarian shadow artist group Attraction won the seventh series of Britain’s Got Talent. The squad had taken part in the German version of BGT in 2012, however, they had only placed seventh.
2014 – Collabro: Classical music band Collabro faced tough competition in the 2014 final as all the finalist were singers, but they went on to scoop the crown.
2015 – Jules O’Dwyer & Matisse: Dog lovers everywhere could’t get enough of Jules O’Dwyer and pet pup Matisse. The impressive duo even performed on a tightrope to secure their win.
2016 – Richard Jones: Army man Richard Jones became the first magician in the show’s history to win Britain’s Got Talent.
2017 – Tokio Myers: Pianist Tokio Myers impressed the judges with his blend of classical and electronic music.
2018 – Lost Voice Guy: Stand-up comedian Lost Voice Guy, who performs with a speech synthesiser, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was six months old. However, he defied the odds and is a BGT champ.
2019 – Colin Thackery: Veteran army officer Colin Thackery warmed the nations hearts with his singing voice. He was crowned winner of BGT after singing Michael Ball’s Love Changes Everything.
2020 – Jon Courtenay: Singer and pianist Jon Courtenay was Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act. After he won the £250,000 prize he said: “”Just amazing, I can’t believe it.”
2022 – Axel Blake: Comedian Axel Blake scooped the crown after the show was off air for two years during Covid.
2023 – Viggo Venn: The reigning BGT champ is comedian Viggo Venn.
The winner of the week is awarded a coveted RuPeter badge, and the bottoms of the week facing a lip sync for their life and the risk of elimination.
RuPaul, affectionately known as Mama Ru, leads an esteemed judging panel that includes regular judges, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, Graham Norton and a bevy of celebrity guest judges, who this year range from Mabel to Simon Le Bon.
Together, they deliberate the fate of the queens. But it is the queen of queens, Mama Ru, who has the final word on who shantays or sashays away from the competition.
