Bronx mom has battled recurring leak since February
THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A Bronx mother said she and her three daughters have been cleaning up after a recurring leak in their apartment every day for months.
Nayely Tellez said parts of the ceiling in their apartment collapsed back in February, and there is still a constant leak in her bathroom, hallway, and her daughter’s room.
As soon as you walk in the front door, you can smell it and see it. Tellez's 9-year-old daughter Galilea said it was scary at first, but now it is disgusting. She showed PIX11 News how she has to dodge the dirty water in the hallway every day. Galilea starts school this week and wants a fresh start.
Tellez has put in repair tickets and says they are closed.
PIX11 News reached out to NYCHA and received the following response.
“NYCHA plumbers are scheduled to conduct repairs in apartments above this unit tomorrow to address the overflow issues affecting this unit. Residents in need of assistance are encouraged to call the Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771 or submit work tickets through the MyNYCHA application."
