New LINC Academy school to open in Franklinton neighborhood

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- At a time when the central Ohio population is growing at a rapid rate, a new school is getting ready to open its doors to students in Franklinton.

“Starting a new school is a journey but it’s also great. We kind of just start where everyone starts, with an idea then we build from there,” said David Ross, the principal and founder of LINC Academy.

LINC stands for learn, imagine, navigate and change. It’s a brand new tuition-free community school for grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade. “We focus on social, emotional learning and building those soft skills and creating new leaders,” said Ross.

He said one major focus of their school is keeping small class sizes. “We wanted smaller class sizes so we can create a more intimate setting in the classrooms. So our teachers can have more one-on-one time with our students. Adding smaller class sizes while also adding tutors, we will see our students achieve at a high level,” said Ross.

The building is big enough to expand and Ross is hoping to teach up to 5th grade in coming years. The first day of class is on Tuesday but parents have until October to enroll. You can learn more about LINC Academy here.
