Radio talk show hosts Amy Jacobson and Dan Proft sink to new low by mocking Gus Walz

So Amy Jacobson and Dan Proft defend themselves for publicly mocking Gus Walz after they learn he has a disability. It does not matter whether he has a disability. To mock a teenage child of a public figure for political reasons is just plain wrong.

My own reaction to seeing Gus’ excitement and pride in having a wonderful father: How wonderful to see such a moving expression of love, and I had no idea at that time that Gus has a disability.

How many of us have been on either the giving or receiving end of such love as a parent?

It is very sad that Jacobson and Proft are the type of people who get elevated for their public displays of contempt for others, and a sad situation in our society that so many hop on board.

Losing intercity bus station is disgraceful

The loss of a central bus depot as a probability in Chicago is a public disgrace and an obvious example of how our elected representatives prioritize their time and attention.

Who other than the poor, working poor, underfunded, unemployed or subsidized depend on the cheapest form of public transportation? And where are you when they need you? Nowhere to be found.

Shame on you.

Every day I read the PR messages from the governor about a few million here and a few million there, as if written by a king rewarding selected subjects to keep their loyalty (and their votes). No money to subsidize a bus depot?

Where is the state planning authority and the city planning authority? The people who get their paychecks from the taxpayer? Surely, some of them must have considered the need to maintain a bus depot close to other methods of transportation such as the local, regional and transnational rail services and airports?

Once again, you really disappoint me, and once again, you demonstrate your lack of fitness to hold elected office, and once again, I do not expect to have the favor of a reply. The government and the people are no longer on the same page and are going in opposite directions.

Losing bus station says a lot about mayor, allies

For a city led by a self-proclaimed progressive mayor, along with Democratic-Socialist City Council members, to let the situation devolve into one where there is no dedicated bus station to serve the people they claim to care about is appalling.

It is working-class people and the less fortunate who rely on intercity bus travel. The mayor and his allies profess to care about those very people. Actions or, in this case, the lack thereof speak louder than words and show the apparent hypocrisy of their politics. Shame on them.

Keep animal care at zoos rooted in science

Brookfield Zoo is a scientific institution dedicated to exhibiting and demystifying animals from near and far. In your article "Brookfield Zoo euthanizes ailing bison after ceremonial Native American blessing," we learn the zoo is participating in nonsensical "prayer and blessing" of its animals. It's hard to imagine anything less scientific or more insulting to visitors looking for a bit of reality.
