Former Cricketer Kirti Azad Mourns the Loss of His Wife, Poonam Jha Azad
Kirti Azad, a former cricket player and Lok Sabha member, lost his wife this morning at 12:45 AM. Poonam Jha Azad, Kirti’s wife, was reportedly ill for a long time. Deeply saddened by the unfortunate event, Kirti used his X account to inform everyone of the news. “Poonam, my wife, has passed away. Left at 12:40 PM to go to her heavenly aboard. I appreciate all of your well wishes,” the post said.
Poonam Jha Azad began her career in politics in 2016 as the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Congress in 2017. Two years later, after seeing TMC Chief Banerjee in Delhi, her husband Kirti also joined the INC. However, in 2021, he moved to the Trinamool Congress.
Mamta Banerjee sent her condolences on her X handle after Kirti Azad’s wife passed away.
She wrote, “Saddened to know that Poonam Jha Azad, wife of our MP & World Cup-winning cricketer Kirti Azad, has breathed her last.” Poonam and I go back a long way. I also knew that she had spent the last few years in critical condition. Throughout her final battle, Kirti and her family gave it their all and stood by her side. My deepest sympathies go out to Kirti and the rest of the family. May peace be upon her soul.”
