How a blood test could predict women's heart health

A study of nearly 28,000 US women indicates that a blood test measuring inflammation and two specific fats, LDL cholesterol, and lipoprotein(a), can predict the risk of heart conditions over the next 30 years. Researchers found that women with the highest levels of these markers were significantly more likely to experience cardiovascular events, including heart attacks and strokes.
