Unanswered questions swirl over deaths of dad, ‘angelic’ twins & toddler – as it’s revealed cops attended home last year
MYSTERY surrounds the deaths of a dad and his three sons after it was revealed cops attended the home last year.
The bodies of Piotr Swiderski and the children, described by one neighbour as “angelic”, were found on Saturday.
Police outside the home on Bremer Road in Staines[/caption]The eldest boy is understood to have been three, while his younger brothers were two-year-old twins.
The grim discovery was made shortly after 1pm by an ambulance crew, who then called police to the semi-detached home in Staines, Surrey.
Police say the incident is isolated and they are not looking for anyone else.
However, it sparked fears that tyre-fitter Piotr, believed to be a Polish national, killed his own children.
The boys’ mum was being supported by specialist officers yesterday.
But huge questions remain over the tragedy which left neighbours horrified.
What happened in the house?
Married father Piotr Świderski, his twin boys and their brother – all under the age of four – were found by an ambulance crew at 1pm on Saturday.
Neighbours claimed to have heard screams shortly before cops arrived at the scene on Bremer Road.
It is not clear what happened in the house as cops continue to probe the situation.
However, Surrey Police say the incident was isolated and are not currently looking for anyone else involved.
One local said: “This is like the quintessential quiet town – you’d never expect it.
“It’s just a normal house in a pretty normal street in a really boring place.”
Why did cops contact the family in August?
The force has referred itself to the police watchdog over previous contact with the family in August last year.
However, it is unclear at this stage why cops were in contact as the investigation continues.
An IOPC spokesperson said: “We have been notified by Surrey Police about the tragic incident in Spelthorne today.
“We will be assessing a referral from the force to decide whether any action is required by the IOPC.”
Who discovered the bodies and whose ‘screams’ were heard?
Ambulance crews who arrived on the scene were the first to discover the bodies at 1pm on Saturday.
Nextdoor neighbour Shehr Sikandari previously told of how he heard a woman’s “horrific screams” shortly before police arrived to the scene.
Mr Sikandari claimed it was a woman who was screaming before everyone came out to see what was happening.
He said: “We had breakfast outside at around 10am. It was quiet and we didn’t hear anything.
“After 12pm we heard some screams and then the police came.”
Was there a change in the relationship between the parents of the children?
Neighbours described the family as “beautiful” and said that the children were well loved.
Mike Cresswell, 68, said of Piotr: ““He seemed like a lovely guy but you couldn’t get to speak to him because he was always so stressed.
“They were a beautiful family.
“The children were well loved and well looked after.”
Another neighbour, 55, said the boys were “angelic” and always looked “happy as larry”.
The young boys’ mother and next of kin are currently being supported by specialist officers.
Cause of death
An investigation is being carried out to establish the circumstances of their deaths.
However, Surrey Police have said they believe it was an isolated incident with no third-party involvement.
DCI Gareth Hicks who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a truly tragic incident and a thorough investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened.
“We would like to thank the local community for their support and understanding whilst we have been conducting our enquiries.
“We can also now update that whilst Bremer Road was closed for a significant amount of time yesterday, it has now fully re-opened and there will continue to be a police presence in the area for the foreseeable.”
