In a video on the show’s Facebook page, presenters Tim and Simon explained that the show has been bumped from the schedule to accommodate coverage of a major sporting event.
Speaking from the studio, the hosting duo assured fans that they’ll be back before long.
Opening the clip, Tim said, “Hi everyone, there is no Sunday Brunch this week,” with Simon chiming in humorously, “What?”
“Because of the Paralympics, we’re off air for that,” Tim noted, before Simon concluded, “We hope you are enjoying watching the games and we’ll see you soon.”
Tim neatly wrapped up, “Yes, we will.”
“We’re off air this week for the Paralympics, but you can still enjoy the fun by streaming our latest and previous episodes on Channel 4. Catch up now!” they added in the caption on Facebook.
Channel 4 programming has been subject to huge changes since the opening ceremony for the 2024 Paralympic Games Wednesday 28 August.
The sporting action began the following day on Thursday 29 August and will continue until the closing ceremony on Sunday 8 September.
The games are taking place in Paris like the Olympics earlier this month.
However, coverage of the Olympics wreaked havoc on the BBCs regularly scheduled programming, and the Paralympics were set to the same on Channel 4, with Sunday Brunch one of the casualties.
The morning show will also be off air this week and return on 15 September.
But fans have been left fuming about the scheduling change.
Raging one regular viewer said: “Oh no… that’s thrown my routine of the window … cats are going to miss Petflix.”
Who hosts Sunday Brunch?
The Sunday morning culinary show is a regular fixture on Channel 4. But who are the hosts?
Sunday Brunch is hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.
- Tim started his TV career in the 1990s working as a researcher for The Big Breakfast before he started presenting and producing the Saturday morning staple Soccer AM in 1996. Tim hosted the show for 11 years before he started working on Something For the Weekend alongside celebrity chef Simon.
- This was Simon’s first presenting gig, but he has since gone on to host shows like Tricks of the Restaurant Trade and Britain’s Favourite Food.
- After the BBC’s Something For the Weekend was cancelled in 2012, the pair moved over to Channel 4 together where they began fronting Sunday Brunch.
- Each episode features Simon cooking with Tim alongside a number of celebrity guests such as Will Young.
- Johnny Vegas also appears on the show occasionally as a relief presenter.
While another moaned: “What am I going to do Sunday?”
“I’ve had a boring Sunday morning, missed Sunday Brunch so much,” another disappointed fan chimed in.
“Missing Sunday Brunch this morning,” added a fourth.
