A’s try to pull closer to AL West Rivals
The Oakland Athletics hope to grab a series win today in Arlington, Texas against the American League West Rival Texas Rangers. After a commanding 9-2 victory Friday, the A’s dropped yesterday’s game 3-2, setting up the rubber match today.
Mark Kotsay will send Mitch Spence to the mound for the A’s this afternoon. Spence is 7-9 this season with a 4.54 ERA in twenty-nine appearances. Today’s game will be his 19th start of the season. He surpassed the century mark for strikeouts last outing against the Reds. Spence will match up with Walter Pennington, a 26-year-old rookie lefthander making his first career start.
