OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A local mother was in shock after she was told her children had no records at Epic Charter Schools.

Danielle Yeingst is a mother of seven, she enrolled her kids into public school for the Fall.

"We were with Epic pre-COVID. We've been with them since before 2020, and so most of my kids' records are with Epic," says Yeingst.

Everything went well with enrolling her kids into a new school, until she received a scary phone call.

Yeingst says the enrollment office called saying, "Hey you know we've tried to reach out to Epic. They're saying that there are no records of your kids ever having attended our school."

That call sent Yeingst into a panic.

"They had lost all four of my girls records and my son's records," says Yeingst.

News 4 reached out to Epic Charter Schools about the alleged missing student records:

We discovered a technical issue with our Student Information System on Thursday last week and immediately resolved it.

No student records were ever lost, and all families who requested records during that time frame have been contacted by our team to fulfill their records requests.

Yeingst was able to recover her kids' records but says the journey to getting them wasn't easy.

"I was on the phone all day. It was an all day affair," says Yeingst. "It caused a lot of unwarranted stress for us."

News 4 has had many families reach out via email about having issues with Epic Charter schools and the transferring of their students records. Some say they've also been told their students have no records on file at the school.

Yeingst says if you're a parent having similar issues, keep calling and stay in contact with the school that your kids are enrolled in.

She also says if your kids are in high school, to check their transcripts and ensure no classes have been left off.
