September begins hot in Oregon, Washington
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — We'll go from the upper 90s on Saturday to hovering right around 90 degrees for a high on Sunday.
As we keep with our dry trend through Sunday in Portland, we'll also see partly to mostly sunny skies.
There is a Heat Advisory still in place on Sunday until 9 p.m. for much of the Eastern Columbia River Gorge of both Oregon and Washington and stretching down to portions of Central Oregon, including Bend and Redmond.
Make sure to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks from the heat if you're going to be traveling to The Dalles and throughout I-84 East toward Pendleton as the daytime highs flirt with the triple digits on Sunday throughout much of the Gorge and into Central and Eastern Oregon.
Clouds will start to increase on Labor Day with Monday's temperatures only reaching the mid-70s.
Monday's forecast also calls for a 20% chance of an isolated rain shower or two around Southwest Washington and the Greater Portland Area. So you could see a few raindrops come Monday morning or afternoon, but it will most likely just be a short-lived shower.
We aren't expecting much in the way of measurable rain here in Portland and Vancouver -- possibly .01 or .02 inches of total rain on Monday, while Astoria could creep towards a tenth-of- an-inch from Sunday into Monday.
By the middle of next week, those seasonal temperatures will return to PDX as we get back into the low 80s.
BUT -- we aren't quite done with the 90-degree days here in Portland. Next Wednesday and Thursday our region will see plenty of sunshine and toasty daytime highs climbing once again back in the 90s.
