Louisiana defeats Grambling 40-10 in 2024 football season opener
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Louisiana started its 2024 football campaign in dominant fashion, defeating Grambling 40-10 at Cajun Field Saturday night.
Cajun quarterback Ben Wooldridge completed 25 of his 33 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns in the game. Harvey Broussard, Tavion Smith and Terrance Carter each had touchdown receptions.
Dre'lyn Washington started the scoring for the Ragin Cajuns with a 6-yard TD run in the first quarter.
Caleb Kibodi picked off a Grambling pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown in the first half. Kenneth Almendares added a 41-yard field goal and Tony Sterner wrapped up the scoring for the Cajuns with a 27-yard FG late in the fourth.
Ke'travion Hargrove had 12 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown, and Reed Harradine added a late 50-yard field goal for the Tigers.
Next up for the Cajuns is a road trip to Georgia on Saturday, Sept. 7 to face Kennesaw State. The next home game at Cajun Field will be Saturday, Sept. 21 vs. Tulane.
