91 Years of fun at the Topeka Zoo

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo turned another year older Saturday, August 31.

In celebration of turning 91 years old, the zoo offered free admission. While not required, guests were encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate upon entry.

All donated food will go towards Project Topeka and be distributed to all the food banks they support to help people with food insecurity.

"As a community zoo, we really do rely on our guests that are close in the counties around us," Cynthia McCarvel, Director of Development at Topeka Zoo, said. "So this just a really great way to say thank you and for their support and to give families the opportunity  that may not be able to come otherwise to be able to come out and make memories with their kids."

In addition to free entry, the zoo also had multiple educational booths as well as performances from Ballet Midwest.
