KANSAS CITY (KSNT) - No. 22 Kansas football began its 2024 season with a victory on Thursday night in Kansas City.

KU beat Lindenwood 48-3 in its first game at Children's Mercy Park, where the Jayhawks will play two non-conference games while its future home in Lawrence remains under construction.

The Jayhawks wasted no time in putting numbers on the scoreboard. Senior running back Devin Neal pounded his first of two touchdowns up the middle on KU's first drive of the game, and the Jayhawks never looked back.

After another rushing touchdown from Neal, one from his counterparts Daniel Hishaw Jr. and a 58-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jalon Daniels to wideout Luke Grimm, KU took a 34-0 lead in halftime.

Daniels put together a 148-yard, one-touchdown, one-interception stat line in his first game back healthy since September of 2023. He only played for the first half due to the score, while second-string quarterback Cole Ballard took over after halftime.

Lindenwood kicked a field goal with roughly six minutes left to play in the fourth quarter to deny KU of a shut out, but the Jayhawks came out on top 48-3.

KU travels to Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 7. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
