WAYNE, N.J. (PIX11) -- A 16-year-old is facing multiple charges after shooting two other teens during a high school football game on Friday night, authorities say.

A 15-year-old and another 16-year-old were shot when someone opened fire at Passaic County Technical Institute around 7:30 p.m., according to the county prosecutor.

The 16-year-old gunman is charged with acts of juvenile delinquency equivalent to first degree attempted murder, second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Officials from the Lenape Regional High School District told PIX11 that gun fire rang out just as the football game was ending on Friday.

A motive for the shooting is not yet known. Police are continuing to investigate and anyone with information is asked to contact the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-877-370-PCPO or tips@passaiccountynj.org.
