BBC commentator falls down hole at England Test match with chiefs forced to take ‘extreme measures’

BBC cricket broadcaster Isa Guha revealed she fell down a hole in the commentary box during England’s Test match against Sri Lanka.

The legendary bowler, 39, was a part of the Beeb’s coverage on day two of the Second Test at Lord’s on Friday.

But she suffered a mishap during the broadcast which she revealed on day three.

Guha shared a picture on X of an area of the commentary box being covered and taped up.

Alongside the image, she added the caption: “Extreme measures after I fell down the hole yesterday @bbctms.”

Reacting to the snap, one fan replied: “Did you need a ladder to get out?”

While another added: “You broke the commentary box!”

And a third said: “It’s good they’ve added an extra cover and taken out the slip. Think I’m just making a silly point now!”

Guha became the FIRST woman of South Asian origin to represent England in any sport at the age of just 17.

She retired in 2012 after 113 England caps as the country’s second highest wicket taker in women’s ODIs and sixth in the world.

She had already made her presenting debut one year before retiring from cricket and is now a regular part of BBC’s cricket coverage.

Guha also began broadcasting at Wimbledon last year.

Meanwhile, England batsman Joe Root made history on day three against Sri Lanka as he scored his second hundred of the match to take him to 34 in his Test career.

It moves him beyond Sir Alastair Cook‘s previous England record of 33.
