Suryakumar Yadav’s Return to Test cricket Hangs in the Balance after Injury Scare
Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav is unsure to have a participation in the upcoming Duleep Trophy as he injured his hand during the Buchi Babu tournament on Friday. This may play an important role in him returning to the Test team after 19 long months.
Surya revealed about how he wanted to returning to Test cricket, when he was made the Indian T20I captain. Hence, Surya did not only made himself available for the next month’s Duleep Trophy and also took part in the pre-season Buchi Babu tournament this week.
Surya was in action under Mumbai Cricket Association in their third group-stage game when playing against TNCA XI. In the match, however, he faced a finger injury.
This happened on the third innings of Day 3 when Surya was fielding at leg slip. TNCA XI batter Pardosh Ranjan sent the ball towards him where Surya made a dive in an attempt to stop the ball, but it escaped his hands. Surya was immediately rushed by medical staff at the ground, shortly before he was taken off the field.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to give out any official statement on Surya’s injury. However, since there are only five days left before the start of Duleep Trophy, it can only speculated if he will be able to take part in the tournament.
