In an Eye-Catching Trio, Longines Adds New Colors to Legend Diving Squad
The Longines Legend Diver, a modern re-issue of a super-compressor divers’ watch with an internal bidirectional rotating bezel the brand first introduced in 1959, made its modern re-debut in 2007 in a 42-mm stainless steel case. Last year, the Swiss brand with the winged hourglass in its logo introduced this popular retro-style diver’s watch with a diameter of 39mm. Despite this reduction in size, the water resistance of 300 meters has remained the same, qualifying the Longines Diver as a certified diver’s watch meeting the requirements of the ISO 6425 standard.
Right in time for the 65th anniversary of the Legend Diver, Longines is expanding the 39mm-range with three new stunning dial colors: green, terracotta and anthracite gray. The lacquered and polished dials are protected by a domed sapphire crystal with black metal plating and multiple layers of anti-reflective protection on both sides to enhance the legibility from all perspectives.
The hours are marked by elongated indexes and raised Arabic numerals coated with Super-LumiNova. The polished rhodium-plated arrow hands, also treated with Super-LumiNova, mark the time with optimum legibility. As an additional safety feature for divers, the seconds hand has a luminescent tip to confirm in the dark that the watch is running.
Another emblematic feature of this collection not to be missed is the internal bi-directional rotating bezel for measuring dive time on the 60-minute scale. The bezel design positioned inside the case protects it from accidental manipulation and shocks that could disrupt its settings. It is operated by the screw-in push-piece at 2 o’clock.
Inside the watch, under a solid case back with an engraving of a diver, ticks Longines’s exclusive Caliber L888.6 equipped with a silicon balance spring, offering a magnetic resistance ten times greater than the ISO 764 benchmark standard. The automatic movement delivers a power reserve of 72 hours and bears a C.O.S.C. certificate for proven precision.
The new models come on a stainless steel bracelet with “grains-of-rice” links placed in the center, providing flexibility and comfort. This bracelet features a double-safety folding clasp with micro-adjustment.
Pricing is marke at $3,300.
