A NEW mother was left with bald spots after having her baby.

Postpartum hair loss is a common side effect of pregnancy, but for one woman, she felt very insecure about losing so much hair across the front of her hairline.

Posting in the reviews section on Amazon, the mother explained: “After having my first baby, I had a lot of postpartum hair loss and ended up with two huge bald spots on both sides of my head.

“I felt soo insecure about it and I was devastated!

“I couldn’t even wear my hair in a pony tail or other hairstyles because I was scared it would show.

“And then I found this oil and saw other reviews too and befores and afters so I had to give it a go!”

The oil she was referring to was Forest & Shore’s Thrive Hair Oil.

It is available to buy on Amazon for £18.99 for a 100ml bottle.

Said to be a 100 percent natural hair growth oil, “every ingredient in this treatment is carefully selected to stimulate blood flow to support and help speed up hair growth”.

Rosemary oil is a well known DHT blocker which, helps reduce hair loss, whereas castor oil, baobab oil, coconut oil all strengthen the scalp, preventing hair from follicle damage.

The oil is also rich in vitamins argan oil, avocado oil, olive oil, and almond oil all help to restore your hair’s moisture and lock in proteins preventing hair breakage.

But did it work? The new mother posted several before and after photos alongside her review.

She said: “I’m sure the pictures speak for themselves! But it definitely works.

“It’s been about  three to four months and I’ve been using it every week – some weeks missed, so not even that consistently.

“I only applied it in those areas and the hairs grown back!

“Much thicker too, you can see they are new hairs as they are much shorter compared to the rest of my hair but boy am I glad I don’t have those bloody bald spots anymore!”

For best hair growth results, the brand recommends the ‘Hair Mask Application Method’.

But is she the only one to have experienced hair re-growth by using this oil?

Forest & Shore’s Thrive Hair Oil has 7,028 ratings, with 4.4 out of 5 stars.

According to Amazon, over 3,000 people have bought the item in the past month.

One user commented: “I have been using this oil for only a month & wow! The thickness and growth of my hair has been super speedy.”

Another said: “As a mum of a  one year old my hair has been lacking life and feeling thin and broken I’ve been using this for a short time but I’ve already noticed a difference!”

A third’s review read: “I have had very dull, broken and simply unhealthy hair due to colouring and bleach damage. However since using your product for the little time I have, my hair has grown considerable and felt much fuller and feels and looks so much more healthy.

The overnight scalp oil mask has 4 step:

  1. Apply the oil directly to your scalp using the pipette or dispense two to five full pipettes into the palm of your hand.
  2. Thoroughly but gently massage the oil into your scalp and comb through to ensure the mid-lengths and ends are also covered.
  3. Leave overnight or for a minimum of two hours.
  4. Wash out the following day, dry and style as normal. Repeat three times a week.

What is postpartum hair loss?

Nearly half of new mothers experience postpartum hair loss.

Four to five months after giving birth, their hair will shed at an alarming rate, and it can be extremely worrying.

Hair grows in cycles (growing phase, resting phase, shedding phase, repeat). But during pregnancy, most of the hair stays in the growth phase due to those big changes in your body’s hormones.

But after your hormones begin to change (again) after baby arrives, estrogen levels fall, causing your beautiful, thick head of pregnancy hair to begin the shedding phase.

Because so much of your hair sheds all at once, the volume of hair loss seems far more substantial.

You don’t need to treat postpartum hair loss, but you might experience some unexpected layers in your hair as it regrows.
