Fortnight-long study begins at 6 high-risk glacial lakes in Sikkim

A fortnight-long study has been launched to evaluate six high-risk glacial lakes in Sikkim. Conducted by the National Disaster Management Authority, the study aims to assess the lakes' physical dimensions and stability to mitigate the risk of glacial lake outburst floods. The initiative follows a recent glacial flood in Sikkim that severely impacted the region.
