2 arrested, 1 injured after attempted South Chicago carjacking leads to shooting
A woman was injured and two people were arrested after an armed carjacking in South Chicago Friday night, according to Chicago police.
A man, whose age wasn’t known, was on the street next to his vehicle in the 8100 block of South Escanaba Avenue about 8:13 p.m. when two people with firearms demanded his vehicle before fleeing with it, police said. The man, along with a 41-year-old woman, then chased them in another vehicle until the suspects shot at them, grazing the woman’s right shoulder.
The woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. The two people who demanded the car were arrested and the car was recovered by officers a few blocks away, along with a firearm, police said.
