I bought a pair of dirty, old Converse on Vinted for a few pounds – a £2 Asda tablet transformed them back to white
YOU don’t have to fork out a fortune to kit out your wardrobe with expensive labels, as one mum proved.
Jessie showed how she picked up some “beat up” Converse for her son from Vinted for £2 – but made them look brand new with a cheap trick.
On her @journey_with_jessie account, she showed the kids’ shoes looking muddy and in need of some TLC.
She shared: “This week, I bought some worn-out Converse shoes for my son on Vinted and decided to give them a little upcycle.”
She first gave them a scrub using The Pink Stuff paste, and then grabbed her miracle item – Milton Sterilising Tablets.
Although they are typically used by parents for sterilising baby bottles, teething rings and spoons, Jessie showed how they can be used for cleaning items too.
Jessie dissolved two tablets in water, and then added the shoes to soak for a few hours, before placing the shoes in her washing machine.
She explained: “First, I grabbed some Pink Stuff paste and scrubbed the shoes thoroughly.
“After that, I took two Milton tablets, dissolved them in a cup of water, and soaked the laces to whiten them.
“Next, I filled a bowl with warm water, added a couple more Milton tablets, and a cap of Formil non-bio detergent.
“I placed the shoes in the mixture and let them soak for two hours, along with the laces.
“Once the soaking was done, I put them in the washing machine for a 15-minute cycle at 40 degrees.”
She shared how she let the shoes dry and readded the laces, and they were left looking “refreshed.”
Jessie concluded: “You don’t need to break the bank for good-quality shoes.
“I DO NOT buy new. If I can get something on Vinted for a fraction of the price and do it up myself, I always will.
“There is no shame in secondhand goods.”

One said: “wow. that’s truly amazing.”
Another added: “mind is blown that Milton whitens shoe laces.”
Jessie replied: “Haha Milton is incredible for all white clothing and fabric! Bleaches it back to white.”
A third commented: “Wow they look brand new!”
