Antioch: Arrests made in Aug. 16 shooting death
ANTIOCH — Two men in their 20s are facing murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a 47-year-old man two weeks ago in Antioch, according to authorities.
Officers found Efren Reynoso suffering from a fatal gunshot wound inside a home on East 8th Street, near A Street, on Aug. 16.
An investigation led to the identification of 23-year-old Christopher Paez Jr. and 21-year-old Elijah Birba as suspects in the case, Antioch police Lt. Desmond Bittner said in a news release Friday.
Both men were taken into custody without incident Tuesday, Bittner said.
On Friday, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges against Paez and Birba, according to online court records. They are set to be arraigned Tuesday.
Jail records show both men are being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on $1 million bail.
