We’ve now got a squad which is so strong that for youth players to prove themselves they’ll have to go on loan and be a success for someone else… then come back good enough to compete against a good squad.
Other teams have had this for a whilst, we’ve been such a mess that we’ve had to rely on youngsters making the step up instantly. How good would it have been if James went to a League 1 team last year or the year before and got 40 senior games playing as a centre mid?
If Dixon or Donovan have great loans, then they can come back next year, sign new deals (which they’ll have earned) and compete for the first team.
