NHL Star Johnny Gaudreau & Brother Matthew Killed by Drunk Driver, Hours Before Their Sister's Wedding - Tragic Details Revealed
NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were tragically killed in an accident that occurred just hours before their sister’s wedding.
Johnny and Matthew were in their New Jersey hometown this week to celebrate their sister Katie‘s wedding. They decided to go for a bike ride on Thursday (August 29) when they were fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver at 8:19pm.
Page Six reports that the driver attempted to pass two slow-moving vehicles, but instead the driver hit the brothers from behind while they were riding their bikes. The driver admitted to drinking five or six beers before the accident and he has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide.

Johnny is survived by his wife Meredith and their kids Noa and Johnny.
People has revealed that Matthew was expecting his first child with his wife Madeline. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support her and the baby, who will be named Tripp.
Page Six has also reported that Katie has canceled the wedding, which was set to take place on Friday (August 30). The ceremony was scheduled to take place at 1:45pm with both Johnny and Matthew as groomsmen.
Johnny played for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the team spoke out in a statement on Friday.
“The Columbus Blue Jackets are shocked and devastated by this unimaginable tragedy. Johnny was not only a great hockey player, but more significantly a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Meredith, his children, Noa and Johnny, his parents, their family and friends on the sudden loss of Johnny and Matthew,” the statement read on X.
