Guthrie mother arrested on child neglect, aiding sex offender charges
GUTHRIE, Okla. (KFOR) — On Wednesday evening, Guthrie Police arrested 39-year-old Natosha Ledgerwood.
Court documents show Ledgerwood faces one felony count of child neglect and a second misdemeanor count of aiding a sex offender.
Police say Ledgerwood's arrest came after her partner's investigation involving a threat of assault with an axe at Liberty Lake Campgrounds back in June.
"That particular subject had threatened to kill himself with an ax and left the RV and had gone over to another campsite and had threatened to kill that person's dog," said Sgt. Anthony Gibbs with the Guthrie Police Department. "His name was Michael Jensen, and he was a registered sex offender among some other things."
Jensen was arrested on June 6.
Investigators say Ledgerwood's children were also there the day of the axe threat.
"They were eight and ten years of age and so in looking back at that, our detectives had questions," said Sgt. Gibbs.
Guthrie Police connected the dots to those questions two months later.
"Throughout the investigation, they realized that that the mom in this case, Natasha, had neglected to protect those children and, two, that she had harbored Mr. Jensen as well," said Sgt. Gibbs. "It was found that she knew that he was registered sex offender and had known for quite some time."
Sergeant Gibbs says Ledgerwood and Jensen are both in the Logan County Jail.
Ledgerwood's children are in the custody of other family members.
