How Venice Film Festival will avoid Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt run in

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt both have films premiering at the Venice Film Festival, but the bitter exes won’t have any reason to interact during the annual event.

The festival’s director, Alberto Barbera, told Vanity Fair that Pitt and Jolie’s appearances for their respective films will “of course” keep the stars apart.

“Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday the 29th, and she will leave right after with “Maria” director Pablo Larraín to go to Telluride,” Barbera revealed. “Brad will arrive only on Saturday to Venice. There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido.”

Jolie filed for a divorce in 2016 and the former couple hasn’t been on good terms ever since. Though both have been legally single since 2019, the divorce is still pending as they viciously hash out issues that include ownership of their winery, Château Miraval.

Pitt alleges Jolie sold her stakes to a third party without his consent which violates their agreement. Jolie says she planned to sell her stakes to Pitt until he requested she sign an NDA that would prohibit her from speaking about “physical and emotional abuse of her and their children.”

During Thursday’s screening for her new film “Maria” in Venice, Jolie seemed to open up to the crowd about her struggles as she explained how she relates to the real-life opera singer she plays in the movie.

“There’s a lot I won’t say in this room that you probably know and assume. I related to the part of her that is extremely soft and didn’t have room in the world to be as soft as she truly was and as emotionally open as she truly was,” she said. “I think I share her vulnerability more than anything.”

Jolie and Pitt share six children: 23-year-old Maddox, 20-year-old Pax, 19-year-old Zahara,18-year-old Shiloh, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

The Venice Film Festival runs from August 28 to September 7.
