Viewers were left with a massive plot twist at the end of season two, and have been counting down to the new series.

Season three is set to start airing on ITV at 9pm this upcoming Monday, September 2.

And just in case fans are left wondering what comes next at the end of this series, Patrick Harbinson has clarified where he sees The Tower going in the future.

In an exclusive interview with the Sun’s TV mag, he said: “I’m already writing the first episode of the tower for just to show to YTB that
we’re ready to go.

“The brilliant fourth novel – I’m using that wonderful story for Lamar.

“So yeah, the characters are all with us. I mean, I think that
Kate and sorry, Sarah and Lizzie. Have a long, long way to go.

Patrick added: “There are many brilliant stories to tell, and you’ve seen what’s happening in England.

“Crime is changing all the time, different crimes, different fears, different eras. So I would love to do more.”

Gemma Whelan, who plays central character DS Sarah Collins, also affirmed her enthusiasm about participating in a fourth series.

“Yes please,” she laughed. “I think we’re all so keen.”

“I’m trying to send all the thoughts to TV and all the people to tune in, it’s going to be numbers, the numbers.

“But I think, as many people have said, this has grown so beautifully as a series.

“I think series three is better than ever. Patrick knows the characters well.

“We’re really into the stories. Really, we’re into important things that we’re talking about.

“You know, like knife crime is really, every time we do a series, it seems such an urgent message that we’re giving. So it’s a public service as well.

“So I think we would definitely like to do more. Yes, please.”
